La Cienega Sunset

Here is another view of the same sunset from The Road to You. That's Sandia Peak to the right.

Volcan

This is one of the volcanoes just east of Albuquerque. You'd never guess it was within a few miles of the city.

Monday's sunset

This was taken about an hour and a half ago. It's two pictures stitched together with the help of Olympus and Photoshop.

The Road To You

This was in La Cienega near Santa Fe. I was showing Heather my favorite places to photograph the sunsets.
I don't name photos that much-but the name seemed natural.

El Guique Chapilla

This is a little chapilla in El Guique, near Espanola.

We took the scenic route.

Taos Columbine

I took this in Taos. I am trying to get some good columbine pictures together. I don't like them as much full open like this and this breed isn't my favorite-is that a desert red columbine? I hope not-I just bought a bunch of seedlings.

Picture came out nice though. I'm so glad flower season is coming.

Dexter and birds

Here is another shot of our cat perch-this time with Dexter utterly fascinated with the birds at one of the feeders outside.
Guess we need to clean the window.

I (slowly) Become a Studio Photographer

Never really gave much thought to being a studio photographer, being the total nature guy that I am.
Faithful blog followers no doubt remember that I do enjoy sitting in my dining room in my bathrobe listening to music, drinking coffee and photographing out the back window though.
After trying to photograph quilts and fabric art at the shop with less than satisfactory results, I decided to try to set up a little studio at the house. I did my first batch of photos last weekend, and got some great results. I don't want divulge my methods, but suffice to say that natural light is the best. I've tried to get a good picture of this quilt over and over again-and finally nailed it.
Now I can stay at home in my bathrobe and drink coffee and listen to cool music and take nice pictures! Allright!!
So we are going to set up a little studio and start photographing quilts, fabric art and any other kind of art work we can think of. We aren't quite sure yet what to charge-but give us a call at the store or e-mail if you want something photographed.

Downy Woodpecker

This is the first interesting bird I've photographed outside the window in a few months. (I did see a black chinned hummingbird at the hummer feeder yesterday, but didn't get a picture)

I'm pretty sure this is a downy woodpecker-although I was personally hoping it was a hairy woodpecker-just like the name.

Sunset 5-11

Not the most spectacular sunset I have ever seen-but nice color. I've yet to see a hummingbird at our feeder by the way, even though I have been hearing them for weeks. I did see one today at the Greenland Open Space, headed north in a hurry.

Hachita General Store

This is at a ghost town in the bootheel area of New Mexico called Hachita. I'm not sure if it is the general store, the title just quotes a Tom Wilson song where he mentions getting drunk at the Hachita general store.

I took this about 9 years ago while on a camping trip. There's not much else to see in the boot heel.

Verve Earth etc

If you are wondering about the "Verve" link up there in the corner, it's something new I'm trying out. It's called Verve Earth, and looks something like Google Maps, but is supposed to link bloggers the world over by the maps.
It seems harmless and is interesting-so far I've found a volcano enthusiast in Costa Rica, a very Christian photographer in Utah, and a "swinging interracial couple" in Denver. That last one's kind of racy.

Anyway, it seems harmless, and welcome to anyone who found this site through it. If you find out anything bad about the site (aside from swinging interracial couples) please let me know.

In other photo news-here is a picture of a Heather design that I took yesterday. I'm trying to set myself up to photograph fabric art, and instead of using a gray background I am painting one in in Photoshop. I don't think it looks to bad.

Happy May Day!!

Or should I say, "Happy International Workers Day?" I actually did get my wild flower wish today though-I do believe those are blossoms buried in the snow this morning.

The snow this morning, this afternoon, not to mention the 40mph winds.
